Luck was with me this night. ; A completely empty queue on Peter Pan's Flight, and one of my shots actually came out!

Good shot Dennis. I'm heading back to Central Florida today with my new 50mm 1.8 Christmas Gift and have Peter Pan on my list of attempts. I've never even tried it so "Heeeeere we go". ; - Garry Rollins, Indianapolis ; Nice meeting a fellow Hoosier at Pixelmania.

Good luck, Garry. ; Late on an EMH evening is your best chance of riding with a short queue. ; And don't be afraid to use manual focus.

    Dennis,

In response, I see why you said "only one shot turned out" at PP. I was there at opening and rode three times and only saw three shots that are fair at best. I had my best luck at a 12,800 ISO pass but seeing a lot a grain. I had to dump the AF but then had many out of focus shots. ; This attraction is tough however with this new lens and camera I at least now have a chance. ; A 1.8 50mm on a 5DII is what I shot. ; Going back again (wishing for an e-stop) and welcome any suggestions for all the Pixelmaniacs. Thanks - Garry Rolllins

I dont have much advice for you Garry seeing as I have never gotten even a fair shot from Peter Pan. ; But I try every time, so that would be my advice, keep at it.

Here is a classic view done many times

Garry, I don't have any suggestions to add to what you've already learned from shooting Peter Pan. ; It is so dark in there that you have to be at or above 6400ISO and the darkness combined with the black lighting confuses the autofocus system, which makes using manual focus a must. ; Now that Snow White is gone, I think Peter Pan is the hardest ride to shoot overall. ; There are scenes in the Haunted Mansion that are more difficult, but Peter Pan is more difficult overall. ; Getting shots in there just takes practice.

Thanks Michael. I used this lens in POTC last night and brought home much better shots. I am starting to get the hang of it and appreciate the help from others. ; The biggest issue I see in Pirates is what white balance to go with. I like keeping the warm lighting but also like to adjust for a more natural look. I did find that the AF would work much better than in Peter Pan.

Great stuff Garry! ; I try that shot of the dog every time, no luck yet. ; I love the look on Jack's face in the last shot.

Gang, this light is why you shouldn't make ADRs in the late afternoon during Pixelmania!

It's not my best picture of the castle, but it is a shot of Garry(Pops)shooting away all by his lonesome.
