i love these shots of the rhine, keep them coming as it will help me decide. i have promised my wife a European river cruise as a graduation present when she finishes her bachelors degree, and i am trying to decide between the rhine, the elbe, the danube, or an amsterdam/amsterdam tulips and windmills special.

We did the pre stay in Amsterdam and then 7 days on the Rhine! I was great, I highly recommend it!

Here's an "old" photo, from all of five years ago. Alice Cooper opened for Iron Maiden during the summer of 2012. Here in the midwest, summer thunderstorms can pop up at any time, and that's what happened fifteen minutes before Alice was scheduled to go on. The show was delayed an hour and Alice had to cut a couple of songs from his set. Regardless, it was otherwise a great evening with two great acts.

Auerbachs Keller [Auerbach's Cellar] in Leipzig, Germany. It was in this wine cellar that young Wolfgang Goethe spent much time as a student at Leipzig University. He immortalized it in his play, Faust.

The 2017 Red Bull air race season opened today in Abu Dhabi. I wasn't there, but I hope to attend their return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on October 14-15, 2017. Here's a shot from 2016, with Francois Le Vot passing in front of the J.W. Marriott hotel in downtown Indianapolis. Believe it or not, the hotel is less than four miles from the Speedway.

Did you know that oxen are made, not born? Neither did I, but at last summer's Indiana State Fair I learned that the cows must first learn the trade as "working steers." If they pass the final exams, they become full-fledged oxen.
And the worst job in ox school is held by the girl in the back with the shovel, waiting to catch anything that the steers may drop.
