Formula 1 driver Nico Rosberg is getting all the attention these days, and rightfully so. His father, Keke Rosberg did the same thing 30 years ago. In 1983 he drove this Williams FW08C to victory at Monaco.

Like father, like son

Well i don't get it until new years eve, i will try and do a photo 1/1/16. i will try a tripod shot with the lights on, it has the coolest federal strobes package

talking about my chiefs car, a 2014 ford super duty f-250 crew cab with cap, white with the red aansii high vis striping down the sides, and some really cool strobes all around where flashers would be, plus some red and blue strobes in the rear cap window. high band radio, low band radio, high and low band portables mounted in chargers in the middle console, a full suffolk county police scanner that has a programmed alert tone anytime the volunteer ambulance is toned out, 1/2 the rear seat was replaced with an incident command box, with scott pack mount, a scott thermal imaging camera in charger, a big slide out grease board easel to write important stuff on. an onboard AED,. the rear bed has a lockable slide out tray with sealed container mounted for my bunker gear, and helmet. it rides like a truck, but hey, it comes with the position.

Now that it looks like I'll be going to a couple of air shows this year (Reading and the Red Bull air race here in Indianapolis) I thought I'd dust off a couple of shots from the final Indianapolis Air Show back in 2012.

The Hoppers jet team flew these Czech L-39 Albatros trainers in their act. Sadly, one of them crashed a few months later, putting an and to the act. But during a happier time, they used rubber chickens to protect their pitot tubes on the ramp.

Not Playing Chicken

I went to an airshow and all I got was this shot of a motorcycle??? Not really, but it was fun to have early access to the 2012 Indy Air Show and have time to experiment with different lenses and angles. This is a British BSA motorcycle, according to the stamp on the side of the engine. Oh, and I have a close-up shot of the Playmate nose art on the BT-13 in the background. You can see it for a small fee. ;)

Classic BSA

In preparation for this weekend's AHL All-Star Classic events, I photographed youth hockey players practicing for three skill events which they will compete in with the Pros. Here's a shot from the fastest skater competition.

ok, i talked about it in dec, but today i finally got around to taking a couple of photos of my new hot rod, it was a sunny day, not freeze skin off cold, and i just went to the carwash with it, chiefs are allowed one trip a month to the local wash and rub. 2015 ford f-250 super duty crew cab, not good on gas mileage, but since i do not pay for that, i drive what the board of fire commissioners gives me.
the neighbors know when we have a call, the tree line alongside my driveway stops 50 feet short of the road, and when i pull out at night with it lit up, i catch the strobes out of the corner of my eye lighting up and bouncing all over the next door neighbors living room.
and it unfortunately what's also eaten into my processing time,i just finished universal day tonight, and hope to have some stuff up by the end of the weekend

Had a blast covering this event. Was on the ice for all the Skills events and on the bench during all the games on the following night. Will share more photos as I find the best of the best.

The goaltenders got into the act with three skills competitions of their own.

Here Bakersfield Condors Laurent Brossoit (31) stops St. John's Ice Caps Morgan Ellis (4) in the Panasonic Breakaway Relay where Brossoit did not allow a goal in the five breakaways he faced during the 2016 AHL All-Star Skills Competition in the War Memorial Arena in Syracuse, New York on Sunday, January 31st.

Now for some in game action from the AHL All-Star game. Because each team consisted of 11 skaters and 2 goalies, I was allowed to shoot from the player's benches. Let me tell you, it was quite an experience. Also, being inside the glass, I used the old Nikon 80-400VR lens which worked great paired with the Nikon D750.

North Division Michael McCarron (25) of the St. John's Ice Caps scores on Central Division goalie Eric Comrie (37) of the Manitoba Moose in the AHL All-Star Challenge at the War Memorial Arena in Syracuse, New York on Monday, February 1, 2016
