Saw a stage production of Singin' In The Rain this summer.

From Pixelmania 2011 (yep, still working through my backlog) ; using the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 UWA lens at 16mm.

Nice wide view there Scott, I have only seen the more close ups of this scene, well done!

Thanks, John. Will share more from this trip through Hollywood's films. ; Of course, this scene is inaccurate. Anyone know why?

Also, the rain in the movie was made of water, not tinsel, the actor moved considerably more than the plastic guy, the set was larger, and...

Ah, just being sarcastic! ; ;)

Smart....

Another one from Pixelmania 2011. ; I travel light in the parks and use my super zoom most of the time. While others in our party had super fast telephotos, I worked with my slower Nikon 28-300VR lens at the Beauty and the Beast Stage Show. Not the easiest show to photograph with all the tricky stage lighting.

Nikon D700/28-300VR, 1/160s, f/5.6, ISO 640, EV +1.0, 160mm FL, cropped.

Like in all stage shows, I use spot metering off the performers face and let the light fall off from there. ; In this case, Belle in the middle of the spoons.

You're right! ; Beast is a brutal show to try to get an accurate white balance on, Scott. ; I like the way you captured the expression on her face. ; We should try to do another paparazzi shoot from those same seats... ; they were perfect!

Those seats were perfect...I was off to side where you guys got right behind the control area which was perfect with those long lenses.

You mean that's not genuine water?

Thanks for the breakdown, Scott. ; I was disappointed with my shots from this show due to the lighting (left my body in center-weighted average mode). ; Great shot.

You are welcome, Peter. ; As my favorite stage show at WDW, I usually shoot this a couple times each trip. I am getting better!

Here is another one from the Great Movie Ride using the UWA lens. ; Another tough lighted scene.

Very nice and a great result. ; I have tried this shot several time but I have not seen near this quality a result.

Thanks for sharing.

Nice Scott - both the Beast stage show and the John Wayne. ; I haven't ever thought to try that in UWA - then again, I've most often been stuck in the middle of the car, near the center rows, so any UWA shot I took would have 20 heads in it! ; That's for when you get the front of the car, or at least sit along the end seats...which hasn't been my luck the past 5 rides on that one.

This was the best I could do a couple months ago, shooting with the camera held over my head to try to get some of the heads between me and the display out of the shot - with a manual focus lens with no stabilization, this was not the world's most steady shooting stance, so I got a little bit of motion blur:

Still, not bad, Justin. ; When we hit up GMR for Pixelmania 2011, it was early in the morning and we had the car mostly to ourselves. ; Both Michael Summers and I selected a vacate row and got right on the left side edge as that was my preference. ; I need to do the same for the right side someday.

Here's one from the Fantasmic! show that same night. This Mickey Mouse kept his arms up.

Leaving DHS after Fantasmic! stopped to photograph a custodial Cast Member making a large Mickey Mouse ; aqua artwork at the beginning of Hollywood Blvd.
