Nikon D3100 Tips?

Hello, I'm new to this site.
Does anybody have any tips for a Nikon D3100 owner?

Like what are the settings for clearer pictures?
any special effects with the lens?

anything is good.
Thanks.

first off, welcome aboard, now i have to ask this in response

are you using a tripod?, that and going low & slow as we here like to call it, iso 100 and f8 is a good starting point for long exposure disney, get in the groove with aperture priority first and then go manual for time length and do a little experimenting

I normally don't use a tripod... I usually just do with what I have (my own 2 hands).
If i see a ledge or a flat service near the area i want, i usually just sit it down there and get it. lol. I always have the strap on me. lol.

Welcome, just_1. ;

There are no magic settings for clearer pictures. ; It's a combination of proper technique and the correct application of the cameras f/stop and shutter speed. ; No magic button. ;

If you can give some examples of faulty photos, we can probably deduce what happened and how to fix it. ; Try to include f/stop, shutter speed, and ISO if you can. ;

May I suggest the book by Bryan Peterson called Understand Exposure. ; Use the Amazon.com button above to search for it. ; It will explain the mystery behind getting the correct exposure (and clearer photos).
