on 1/15/26 i drove into a very cold and snowy michigan , after picking michael up at the detroit airport, this below is from thursday, a quick detour to carland to shoot the grain elevator. i'll post a few from the actual charter

1225 is a 1941 built lima 2-8-4 berkshire, built for the peer Marquette railroad, and the model for the locomotive in the polar express movie, here we are on friday night doing a night shoot in the yard with the turntable, it has been painted and renumbered as c & o 2699

saturday afternoon, late, still brutally cold, a runby at the carland grain elevator, surprisingly still intact and not burned down, given how some folk get bored and destructive. this whole charter made me rethink my cold weather commitment to this, i'm not so sure i would ever do a january charter in michigan again. i just do not have the tolerance for cold that i had as a younger person , and i have way better cold weather gear than i had many years ago.
