So I got my 98-280 f/4 L IS lens ;) and I've putting it through the paces lately.

Here's our kitty -

and

I'm surprised by the quality really. Glad I went that route even though it's heavy.

But I'm used to carrying heavy things.

Here's the full size image of the bottom image - if you look closely in his eyes you will see the reflection of our dining table.

Huh? Must be 70-200 f/4L IS after 1.6x APS-C conversion. Although it doesn't explain why it starts at 98mm. ???

I'm not counting my APS-C crop factor. But you are on the right track. ;)

aha! So you bought the 70-200 f/2.8L IS. Congrats! It seems like everybody I know now use that lens. :o

Yes, I was able to get my hands on a refurbed for a very very good price.

Which TC do you use and how's the quality with vs without TC? I use Tokina 1.4x TC and the end result is very blurry (well, not very, but compared to w/o TC it's really bad).

Canon's 1.4 II. The cat photo (#2) I posted is with it...very impressed, esp since here's the EXIF:

210mm (hey it's reporting the extended focal length)
1/25 sec
f/4
ISO 200

The last time I got a pic without it was the vulture I think.

But let's see...overcast day...I was shooting from behind a tree (trying not to spook the vulture but get close enough for a halfway decent shot). This one was at 200mm.

I think it's pretty clear I have to get rid of my 1.4x TC and get the Canon version instead. Oy, more money needs to be spent :(
