Two from the Haunted Mansion with the WRONG lens and a little luck!

Here are two from two different rides. For both, the ride was stopped and I got lucky!
I wasn't too worried about taking ride pictures this last trip, so I didn't always change lens.

For the first, I had on the Tokina 11-16. When the ride stopped, I quickly switched the camera to raw, iso 3200, f2.8 and held on. This is a 1.5 second exposure! VERY LUCKY INDEED!
 
Whoa! ; 1.5 second exposure with non-VR lens! ; Great work, Craig! ; The VR shot is pretty cool, too. ; Imagine, these were unthinkable just 2 years ago. ;
 
That first shot is awesome. ; I agree, 1.5 seconds handheld for non-VR is amazing. ; I'm guessing you braced that rail in the front of the Doombuggy pretty well?

I was able to fire off 4 exposures. 2 are flat out blurry (iso2000 and 3 seconds), 1 is so-so and this 1 ; is the lucky keeper.
I held the camera the way I always do, breathed carefully, and got lucky.
this falls in to my theory that if you take enough slow shutter shots, one will be sharp just out of pure luck.

Also my first post is wrong, I started at iso 2000 and then had to ramp up to 3200 to get this exposure. This was the last of the 4 shots before the ride started again.

Iso 3200- wow! unbelievable that it exists!
 
Good job! ; I agree with your theory - I handhold often at 1-2 seconds when I'm stuck with my ultracompact, and occasionally with my DSLR, and can pull off some keepers...though you'll definitely get some blur bombs too...fire off a few if you can, and you seriously increase your odds of getting one right. ; Doing it without VR is still quite an accomplishment, so kudos!
 
I love that first one. ; This is my favorite scene in the Haunted Mansion. ; How lucky to be stopped right here! ; It happened to me once several years ago but I wasn't into photography back then. ; Really really REALLY nice work! ; :)
