Looks like we may be able to carry on water soon.
I always found it odd that they would confiscate our liquids that the TSA deemed potentially dangerous and just throw them all in a bin. ; Assuming the hazard the liquids posed you think the TSA would be more careful with them.

WASHINGTON — Airline passengers will likely be able to carry large bottles of liquids on airplanes some time next year, the Transportation Security Administration says.
The TSA expects by next fall to lift restrictions that limit passengers to carrying 3-ounce bottles of liquids, gels and aerosols in airplane cabins, agency chief Kip Hawley said on the agency's website. Passengers would still have to remove liquids from carry-on bags at airport checkpoints and put them through X-ray machines separately.
 
Orlando airport has always been fun - my luggage has always been weighed (which, when travelling with an infant, was stuffed with diapers, wipes, etc., and often hovered at the 52 lb mark - you'd often see me pulled over to the side taking out a knapsack/ duffle bag, and overloading a bag - why 2 bags at 26 lbs each is better than one bag at 52 lbs is a mystery to me ), my daughter's milk has been taken (who'd take milk from a one-year old?), and other things have gone wrong. Course, I'm usually in a foul mood to be leaving. :-)
 
We too are always around 48 to 49 lbs with our bags. ; On our August trip they actually measured the cubic inches of our bags....... ; They always give us a hard time...

I think the weight restriction is there for the ramp folks who toss the bags around to ensure a regular bag isn't too heavy.

When we did the TA and the Panama, when heading up to the counter, I would be dragging the suitcases and informing the Counter Person, Yes my luggage is overweight! ; And I'm not gonna repack! ; Charge It!LOL

Sometimes they are nice if it's at the 2 lb mark and let it go!
 
good point about the luggage handlers - but it still seems a bit bizarre that 1 or 2 lbs would be treated so severely. ; I've had some desk agents start charging me the overweight limit automatically - even hovering around the 50 lb mark, and I'd be like -
"wait a sec, let me take out my knapsack and put that coat in it" - presto, now hovering at 49 lbs, with knapsack that weighs 2lbs - problem solved. ; No overweight charge. ; I certainly understand the need to keep luggage handlers (and desk clerks) healthy and not strain themselves, and I certainly understand the need for rules and want to respect them - just would like a little bit more latitude with some things. (Sorry - guess the last time this ; happened they took my then one-year-old's milk as well).

Ah well - them's the breaks. ; I always advise everyone now - Orlando airport is probably one of the most cautious airports I've travelled thru - given the traffic they see, it makes sense for sure, but if you know in advance, you weigh your bags before you get there!
