Tiki Room w/17-55 IS

I only took three lenses to WDW, used only two of them. My primary walkaround is the 17-55 IS.

While I know a lot of people don't like the revised show, my kids enjoyed it. But my son also loves the original one at DL too. My daughter doesn't remember much of that one I'm sure.

ISO 1600, f/2.8, 1/25 sec. Pushed about 1 stop in ACDsee Pro. Didn't use DPP that much from the pics from this trip, I may use it for odd white balance issues in the future. But I did use ACDsee's click white balance feature.

so what is your overall impression with this lens, i just recieved mine and have not really had a chance to use it indoors in available light, to cross reference my earlier thread i have decided to go this route with the xti, selling the 3 unused lenses allows me to do this without any real out of pocket cost, the xti makes for a nice slim, lightweight travel kit in a chest pod for security reasons in europe
i'm going to go into new york city a couple of times this winter and do available light photos in some of the museums, the metropolitan museum of art mostly, this should give a good feel for how this will do in europe, some museums and churches do allow photos, the prohibitions are usually tripods and flash
if i'm happy with results this means i don't have to get and carry a fast prime, means a 2 or 3 lens kit, no prime may leave room for the 70-300 f4.5-5.6 IS usm, although i'm not sure if i need a tele on this trip, one of the things i hate is when i drag along a lens on a trip, only to leave it in the room the whole trip
primes considered if necessary are canon 28mm f1.8 or sigma 30mm f1.4, the prime means the tele stays home, no room in the pod for 4 lenses plus body, could fit but too bulky

I love this lens!

It allowed me to handhold pics of the bats and the Austin skyline from a small boat at dusk. It's really sharp, and I know what you mean about handholding - the same at the Smithsonian - no tripods allowed.

Until Canon does release a 24-70/2.8 IS L, this lens and the 30D are staying with me.

this lens is phenomenal. It's is as sharp as 50mm f/1.8 set at f/2.8. Since I never use the f/1.8 full open, I sold my 50mm lens.
