I attended the Central New York Reining Horse Association Show last weekend. ; Having watched Arabian horse shows for years, this show was very different. ; The riders and horses follow a pattern incorporating spins, long galloping circles and then a head long run into a sliding stop throwing up dirt. ; This slide goes for 15 to 20 feet in length.
I didn't have a tripod or I could have done a long exposure shot. ; Some of the riders got their mounts going very fast. ; Don't know how the rider or the horse didn't get dizzy.
The pattern I was watching they would go into a wide turns at a gallop after the spins.
Then they would do three runs into sliding stops like these:

Lots of fun to watch and photograph. ; They later did a Freestyle event which I'll add on to here once I get the photos uploaded.
