Pixelmania 2021 Pre-Pre Meets

The latest update to the revised revision of the seventeenth update to our Southwest flight schedule has us arriving at MCO at 9:30AM on October 16th and departing at 7:45PM on the 24th (these times are subject to change).

We had originally planned to do HHN but we have decided to skip that to catch up on all that has changed (for better or worse) at WDW. We upgraded our tickets to 9 day park hoppers so we have full flexibility on park visits.

We currently have Park Pass for:

Saturday Oct. 16: Animal Kingdom
Sunday Oct. 17: Epcot
Monday Oct. 18: Studios, 9:15am Oga’s. Hop to Epcot (Epcot extended hours 10PM to midnight)
Tuesday Oct. 19: Epcot, possible Trader Sam’s and Enchanted Rose.
Wednesday Oct. 20: Hollywood Studios (Pre meet Dinner at Sanaa, then a trip to Grand Destino) Hop to MK (MK extended hours 9PM to 11PM)

Pixelmania Schedule
Thursday Oct. 21: Epcot
Friday Oct. 22: Magic Kingdom
Saturday Oct. 23: Studios
Sunday Oct. 24: Animal Kingdom

Here is a link to the current Extended Evening Theme Park Hours Schedule for those of us staying at Deluxe or Deluxe Villa Resorts. Not sure what the plan is for that because we don't all have that available to us. As of now there are no Extended Hours for the official Pixelmania dates.

And of course we are always up for eating and drinking (mostly drinking) at any time.

The park strategies are going to be interesting with park pass, park hopping restrictions, genie+, etc. I may put Epcot for two days and add another Studios so we can have multiple chances at getting into the virtual queues for Remy and Rise.

So, anyone got any thoughts on meeting up during those first 5 days?

Sun 10/17 - EPCOT
Mon 10/18 - HS, hop to EPCOT for extra hours

@RedOctober25 not sure if you saw my update on extended hours, but we have Epcot 10pm to midnight available on your arrival day. Probably makes for a long day though.

Probably will depend on how tired I am from my flight (gotta get up considerably earlier than normal)…. But maybe I’ll pop in for fireworks and a drink [emoji1]

Sat 10/16: Driving from Georgia to Orlando, possibly arriving around 5 pm. If I go anywhere that evening, it will have to be Islands of Adventure (possibly open until 8), Toothsome or Disney Springs. DS may have the edge since it's close to the hotel.
Sun 10/17: Universal/HHN.
Mon 10/18: Universal
Park reservations are subject to change other than Pixelmania days.
Tue 10/19: Epcot
Wed 10/20: DHS
Thu-Sun: Epcot/MK/DHS/AK
Mon 10/25: DHS
Tue 10/27: DHS then drive to Georgia.

The thing about driving to Orlando for me is that Atlanta is the halfway point. That means I want to go through ATL in the evening (when traffic is relatively light) before stopping for the night. It's been a while since I've made the drive, so we'll see how my body tolerates it. Regardless. it wll beat a packed Southwest flight and ridiculous rental car prices.

@ddindy. We were thinking about driving sometime, it will be about a 1200 mile drive for us. Where do you recommend staying, south of Atlanta. Thank you

It depends on how long you think you can stay awake. I've stayed at Macon a few times, but this trip I'm stopping at Forsyth (north of Macon) southbound and Ringgold (south of Chattanooga) northbound.

The best advice I can give you is figure out when you want to leave and when you want to stop for the night, and pick a spot near there. Atlanta traffic can be pretty bad during rush hour, so you want to avoid that if possible. I-475 west of Atlanta is an option, but again, you want to avoid it during rush hour.

Also, depending on where you live, Google maps may give you the option of using I-65 to Nashville then I-24 to Chattanooga, or I-75 all the way. For me, the distance is about the same, but I've always preferred I-75.

Thank you. We’re in mid Michigan and I-75 is the best option for us too. It’s a straight shot down I-75.

Not sure if its in the official plans but a Trader Sams visit will be in the mix for us as well. Let me know if anyone has any thoughts on a time for that.

Not sure I’d be able to join you at TJs… but if you’d wanted to grab drinks at Sanaa or Vic Falls Monday (depending on what time you get back from the parks) evening, I wouldn’t say no. [emoji51]

@ExploringWDW That's going to be tricky to squeeze in, but I'm up for it if you find a hole in the schedule.

It looks like a few of us will be at Epcot or MK on the 19th. Is the Epcot monorail running yet? If so an afternoon break at Trader Sams is feasible. They open at 3.

I know the resort monorail is bypassing the poly at the moment due to construction, so if you’re coming from MK take the boat.

We will likely try to take advantage of all the extra evening hours available to us on Monday at Epcot so drinks after parks may not be in the cards. However, if we need a mid day break we could make a trip back to the resort.

Sanaa Lounge Hours: 11:30 AM to 11:00 PM
Victoria Falls Hours: 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM

Depending on your definition of “mid-day”… I should roll into Kidani around 2pm or so.

So, Poly Monorail station opened about 2-3 weeks ago so that is an option. Trader Sam's was VERY hard to get in back in July. We walked up at like 4:15 and they said check back maybe at 8:30 and they MAY be able to put us on the list. That was also the first week it reopened.

Oh, and I will be teaching my Star Wars class when you attempt this that Wednesday LOL!
