The Komodo Dragon was quite active when I went on the Maharajah Jungle Trek a couple of weeks ago during Mousefest. The guide said he was hunting a bird which had landed a moment earlier. Made for a great photo opportunity for me. Usually, the Komodo dragon is stationary durming my past visits.

He even posed for me! I tried to catch him with his tongue out but never did in this pose. I didn't think fast enough to switch to continuous mode. Oh, well, next time!

The photo in the original post was taken in December 2006. These were taken in December 2008 using a Nikon 80-400VR lens.

Great series - I like the one with his head cocked to the side like he's hamming it up for you!

i always get a kick out of it when someone learns for the first time just how dangerous these bad boys really are, these are not iguanas, not even close in temperment

Don't those bad boys have a venom that basically acts like a flesh eating bacteria?
