It's a Small World at Disneyland went through a major renovation between 2007 and fall 2008, reopening in early 2009. ; Basically the last attraction Marty Sklar had his hands directly in throughout the renovation[nb]He retired last week[/nb], the changes caused a massive Disney fan uproar[nb]Not related to D23 members[/nb] because of the changes that were made to the ride.

Specifically, they added Disney animated characters to the ride, and cut the rain forest scene out in favor of an American scene, which was absent from both U.S. versions of the attraction. ; However, Disneyland Paris did have an American scene, so it's not like this was anything new.

When I heard about the animated character addition, I saw the concepts from Hong Kong Disneyland, and wasn't thrilled either, but I was willing to give it a chance before expressing an opinion.

I didn't mind the redo. ; They styled the characters in the same style as Mary Blair's original children, so they blend very well with the whole concept. ; My family also enjoyed it. ; The only thing that was weak was the America section.

    Why?

    Because.....

YEEHAW! ; America is just farms and cowboys and indians!

Thanks for posting the photos Roger. ; I still am undecided on the characters, but I am glad that they are styled the same.

I may be in the minority, but I loved the idea at the time and the execution looks great.

i am not bothered about the redo, more about the fact that it re-opened at all, because karen absolutely will not let me skip riding this on every trip to both coasts so far, and then that song, you know which evil one, is stuck in my head all day, i'd be better off with voices, at least i might enjoy what they were telling me to do
