This is the place for photos of anything in DCA between the entrance gate and Carthay Circle, i.e. the area known as Buena Vista Street. It's also the place for shots east of the Carthay Circle in Hollywood Land.

Walt Disney's first big-time cartoon star wasn't Mickey Mouse, it was Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Walt, as you know, wasn't so lucky, as he was swindled out of the rights to Oswald and most of his animators. Years later, the Disney company regained the rights to Oswald in exchange for sportscaster Al Michaels.

Many years ago, Mickey Mouse got off a train in Hollywood with just a suitcase and a dream. The newsboys gathered around him and sang inspirational songs. That's how it really happened, right?

The great thing about news boys is that they always deliver the papers promptly. Except, that is, when they're busy carrying news girls around.

Saw that same girl back in August (not that I was looking that close or anything)

The Storytellers statue commemorates Walt's 1923 arrival in Hollywood with a cardboard suitcase, $40 and a dream. Mickey, however, was a few years in the future.

It's not a Disney theme park without live music, right? Five & Dime perform regularly at the Carthay Circle (the roundabout, not the restaurant) in DCA.

Guests like myself were greeted by an honor guard upon entering DCA on May 4, 2017. May the fourth be with you!

Fresh off the train, Mickey's ready to raise a little Hell.

I hope Oswald's gas station has snacks. I like to eat and get gas at the same time.

"Look at this story at the bottom of the page: No more Newsies! I hope that doesn't mean us."

The victims of another entertainment cutback get the bad news. Ironic in view of the banner headline at the top of the page.

Yet another photo of the aptly-named Storytellers statue.

5 & dime, a really good swing/jazz band that performs a few times a day, and yes they were good enough to cause a small group of pixel maniacs to go fanboy and chase their car down the street and catch their set a few times
