I wasn't stopped, but it was also before 9/11.

I was stopped by Fantasmic! crew once they saw the big white lens on a monopod. Of course I was also standing only a few meters away from the control area.

DL's Fantasmic is whole another beast compared to Studios where the stage was built for the show.

I don't think their "security" before the gates is looking for professional lenses.

But if you are with the media...oh boy...they do have a policy about leaving the glass outside once the event is over.

I think it may also stem from the Sailing Ship Columbia tragedy fallout as well - don't want media inside the park on a regular basis.
I see your point. Different circumstances for sure.

yes. A lower level Disney manager tried to stage-manage access to the whole scene, including by investigators. Big mess.

I'm glad the ship came back. Considering Disney's track record with accidents on ride vehicles, they usually disappear to "make room for a future attraction"

So what did replace Skyway at MK?

nothing, in the most magical sense of the word.
actually, in fantasyland we have a magical stroller parking area :) i call it magical because no matter where people leave their strollers, they seems to appear there every time!
