Went to the Fair last night and was happy to see new and re-furbished rides on the Midway. ; Bright paint and LED lighting was everywhere.

A new thrill ride debuted at the New York State Fair Midway yesterday...The SKY Flyer.

The Ferris Wheel got an upgrade of a thousands of LED lights.

On a more somber note, the memorial honoring the dead of Pan Am Flight 103, including 35 Syracuse University students, was unveiled.

NYSF Remembers 9/11 by Scottwdw

 

I will be attending the Sugarland concert at the NYSF on Saturday. Those from the ISF will be remembered.

 

Ive learned not to take close up pictures of Beatle tribute bands and just enjoy the music. A couple of years ago I took my camera to an American English (another Beatles tribute band) concert and found that they looked very little like John,Paul,George and Ringo!

 

They did play the music very well so I can not fault them for their looks. ;

Nice work guys! ; You've given me a couple of ideas for shots at the county fair next month. ; Unfortunately I only have one evening during the fair to take pictures because I work at the fair the other evenings.

I checked out the qualifying runs of the barreling racing this year. ; It is held in a back area of the Fair and is outside. Bright sunny day so I was able to use shutter priority to control stop action and panning. All taken with a Nikon D700 and 28-300VR lens.

Fellow TMIPer Dave Kliment, Gillian and I spent the day at the Fair on Sunday with cameras in hand. ; Dave took a liking to this ASV (Armored Security Vehicle). ; They wouldn't let him take it for a test drive so he had to settle for this...



We saw all kinds of things...here's Gillian checking out the Photography gallery.


Dave and Gillian did some wine tasting in the NY Wine Village tent.


As day turned to night, Dave and I pulled out the tripods for some long exposure fun on the Midway.

 

Very nice shots Scott, that performer looks like he would follow your camera anywhere!
