New gear for Pixelmania 2010?

well i decided to pull the trigger on the move, i just traded no less than 7 lenses, 1 tamron, 5 canon usm lenses, all of which have been replaced over the years with L primes, and my 300mm f4 L , the non IS model, which i haven't taken 20 photos with in the last year, all sent off to keh as trade on a canon 70-200 f2.8 IS mark2, hoping to have it for pixelmania, now i just need to start back pumping the iron, build up those shoulder muscles for carrying it around.
the reviews floating around about this lens are all positive, including stellar reviews when using the 1.4 tc, which gives 280mm f4, with modern IS, close enough to replace that 300.

Congrats Gary, I think you will be very pleased with the new lens. ; I have the older model and love it and like you said , with the 1.4xtc it gives you another option.

I just got a polarizer for my other lens and a new tripod.

I got the 200-400 VRII recently, but I'm not sure if I'm going to bring it with me this time. ; I can fit the 200-400 or the 70-200 but not both in my camera bag[nb]New camera bag that holds both is back-ordered with an estimated delivery date of early January[/nb] so I'm trying to decide which one is more useful on this trip. ; I'm strongly leaning toward bringing the 70-200 since I'm focusing on fireworks this trip and need that lens so I can shoot Wishes from the TTC with my ND filter.

That's a very nice yet very large lens. ; I'm bringing everything, although I'm not carrying my 300/2.8 around with me all the time, just for AK. ; But it does fit (probably something to do with being an old lens, built-in hood, etc).

I'm definitely bringing the 300mm F4 to AK...especially now that I have a holster bag for carrying it. ; I can accomodate it with the 200-500mm, but that might be a bit much to haul to a park...so I'll probably pair it with my 18-250, so I have flexibility and long prime in one portable bag. ; My Think Tank LensChanger2 is my new addition within the past few months.

way to go, so you did go for the 7d after all, you should be giving that af a nice workout at pixelmania

SWEET! ; congrats. ; I am still hoping for a small miracle or my own but it's very doubtful at this point.

Thought it would be neat to see what new gear everyone will be bring to Pixelmania this year that they did not have last year. ;

Now it's my turn. ; At first I thought I shouldn't reply because American Airlines conspired to prevent me from attending last year, so it would be hard to say what has changed. ;

But anyway, everything in my profile is new! (to me)
