My self portrait was a project assigned to me by my graphic design teacher recently. I went home and opened some photo albums and noticed most pictures of me were the reflection of me holding a camera in front of my face. So I started with that. My hair took up most of the background, I have very big hair when it's not tied down. In the design process I decided to do a collage of my world. The first step in making the collage was taking out the hair and putting in everything else. What it wound up being was a collage of trips my family and I have taken to Disneyland and Disneyworld! From John and my wedding straight to the first trip to the world when the kids were 5 and 7 ... to the most recent, one to DL and one to WDW - the kids are now 22 and 20. Our two dogs are a huge part of our world as well, but have never been to Disney. Each of our furbabies are depicted in my collage. I am very proud of what I made and just wanted to share a larger, more viewable print of what I look at on my wall just about every day~ Me hopes you likey...
I do likey... very much. There is always a big debate in the world of education regarding creativity and imagination... how much is nature and how much is nurture? The current general consensus is that creativity can be developed/enhanced without limits. Naturally, those who are gifted in that area (nature) will have a leg up on those of us who are not but BOTH can benefit from regular practice of "thinking outside the box" (nurture). You did a great job here and now I'll continue to practice, read, learn... etc. and wish I had more of your natural talent! Margaret (teacher-turned-stay-at-home-mom)
You are so sweet Mo, thank you~ Natural ability or a natural eye would have an advantage and yes, abilities can be taught. I teach technique to anyone who asks~what you do with the advice and how you adapt will determine how long it takes you to learn what to look for and how to make it presentable. As a realist, I would also have to say that are are some out there where no matter how hard they try, are just never gonna get it.
