Magic Kingdom - High ISO nighttime scenics

On my December trip I went tripodless, as I didn't want to make my buddy uncomfortable or bored while I set up long and involved shots. ; But I still love getting my scenics and night shots, so I went the high ISO route with just my basic superzoom lens (18-250) on board - the new camera does a pretty smooth job of it, making missing a tripod a mostly non-issue. ; Here are some scenics from around MK on one overcast night:

Thanks all. ; Surprisingly, no issues with noise - these are in fact all shot in JPG, and straight from the camera with no post-processing. ; It's a nice option to be able to shoot scenic type shots at high ISO when I don't have a tripod along. ; They don't quite have the ultimate depth of color and saturation that long-exposure night shots have, but they involved nothing more than telling my friend to hold on a sec, and snap a shot in a few seconds or so.

Wow, Justin! ; I am just sitting here eating my lunch and going through these. ; Hand held? ; They are great! ; The Plaza, Tomorrowland Terrace and Firehouse are my favs! ;

Those are wonderful Justin! ; I am more and more amazed by what these cameras are able to do with these higher and higher ISO ranges.

Great shots Justin. I always felt the Tomorrowland Terrace was great to photograph at night. Although I've never seen it from that angle using that tree to frame it. This was just added to my shooting list.

Thanks Jeff, Leo, and Chris. ; Leo, I accidentally happened upon that angle - I was wandering down that short round path that goes from the Tomorrowland pathway to Main Street as the parade was occupying Main Street and it was easier to take that shortcut - it was then that I noticed how the tree hung low over the shot and would frame nicely. ; I've always shot Tomorrowland Terrace from the Tomorrowland bridge or pathway.

Another nice angle is from the tables just outside the Ice Cream Parlor. Gives nice views of the rock work for night time photos.

Thanks Leo - good point. ; I have shots OF that area, not as often from it - but you're right - good views of the rocks and entrance area, Tomorrowland terrace, and good sunsets over the Main Street Bridge from low on the canal too.
