Lightning.

Ever since we had a major t-storm roll through a few weeks ago, and I took my sealed lens/non-sealed body for storm chasing on my back deck, I've wanted to get something like this. All while getting a free shower and clothes rinse.

This time I was able to do it from the safety of a dry garage looking out across the street as the storm was coming in. Tonight.

This one you can see a cloud to cloud strike:

Very nice. I'd say you nailed the exposure, the smaller bolts especially don't look blown out at all. I like lightning shots where you can see fine detail like that, I'm fascinated by the pattern of jagged changes of direction and the forks.

I tried to do some lightning shots a while back.. but the weather wasn't cooperating, I wasn't getting near enough in my field of view to have a chance catching any.

Actually.. last winter I swore that I'd work on getting pictures of static discharge. You know, touching a light switch and getting a zap. But.. I forgot to pursue it. My goal is to be able to get the corona discharge to show up.
And yes, I know that technically lightning is a static discharge as well. But I can control the small scale version and reproduce it at will.. when the air is dry enough.
