    Maybe I should see if my wife's old Canon AL-1 works and buy some film!

    That could be an idea too - Jeff's certainly been having some fun going retro with film!

    My camera made it down to Mack Camera on September 3rd (UPS was super fast), they are "in process" of shipping it to Canon for repair!

    what about renting a body if your camera isnt done in time?

    I did think about that Craig and if I get a sense that I will not have my camera back in time for our October trip, I will probably do just that. ; Might have to try out a full frame camera while I'm at it! ;

    Hopefully my camera gets shipped directly from Canon and doesn't have to go back to Mack Camera.

    Re: Canon 40D Has Returned!

    Finally got my camera back from Mack Camera Repair. ; They had to ship it to Canon for replacement of the motor assembly. ; They also: "adjusted focus and exposure, cleaned C-MOS, updated firmware, cleaned and checked all functions to good working order."

    The firmware is the same version I already had so I'm not sure why they "updated" it. ; I also noticed that some dirt that was in my viewfinder is no longer there, so I'm happy about that.

    Camera was shipped to Mack on 9/3 and just got it back today 9/22. ; I guess with the holiday in there the turn around time wasn't too bad.

    Glad to hear you got it back before your trip.

    Sounds like a pretty decent repair job. ; Glad that they got it taken care of for you.
