Frontierland Sunset

No...this was a failure of the 33-year-old master bathroom toilet water pipe where it enters the pump valve. ; Must have given way sometime in the early morning hours. ; By the time I had woken up, it had filled the bathroom a few inches deep, while a goodly amount had seeped into the master bedroom carpet, pad, baseboards, floorboards, closet...and also worked its way through the baseboards and drywall to enter the living room, onto THAT carpet, pad, and floorboards, and a nearby coat closet. ; It was easy enough to just shut off the valve once I saw it...but that was already too late.

Stanley Steamer had to rip up the carpeting and padding in the master and living room, and set up 15 massive fans and dehumidifiers that ran full blast for 4 days (that was fun!) while I hid in the other end of the house (my cat enjoyed it too - she hid under the guest bed for 4 days). ; Then once that was over - which apparently saved the floor and walls - I now need to get new carpet pads, relay the carpet, all new baseboards in 3 rooms, and as a bonus, redo the entire master bath cabinetry. ; Insurance to the rescue! ; And the silver lining is - that's one of the oldest and least renovated rooms in the house, with the original pressboard-and-vinyl '70s cabinetry and hardware...so at least in the end I get a renovated master bath out of the deal.
