    Looks like Howie got his groove back. ; Nice set of photos and that's the best Red-wing photo I have seen in quite a while. ; Tough birds to photograph.

    today. wish the eagles would get closer. I am very surprised that there is a mature and immature bald eagle still around this time of the year

    How did the converter work with focus speed? ; Isn't that why you sent the last one back?

    that was on the tamron 200 -500 John. that is f 6.3 at 500mm and with the 1.4 tamron tele it was f9 so focus was slow and also needed to go to f13 to get sharpness and that required really high ISO. this will be f 5.6 with a 1.4 so focusing will still be fast and it is AF-S where as the tamron was only AF.

    I was wondering how you were getting those dragonfly pics. ; Zooms are nice but with the kinds of shooting you do, the 300 with an the 1.4x will be very useful. ; Of course, now you need a second body to keep a short zoom on for when the 300 is too much. LOL
