For some reason, I thought Mr. Tim would never ride Mission: Space. Maybe this was a green team shot

you guys ruined it! I figured tim could do anything with his camera!
whats next, bungee jumping handholding a camera without a strap!

Tim, you took pics with that slow lens? You're braver than I thought.

f/4 is three stops slower than 1.4

I can recognize the 24-105 f/4L IS USM.

(and I was joking btw)

now now, no making fun of tim's favorite lens, btw i just had a 5d delivered to the house and tim is trying to convince me i just have to have that lens

I'm not making fun of that lens.

<runs over to camera cabinet> I thought I had it on my primary right now - it's just the 70-200 x1.4TC right now. But I need to switch it out when I pack.

You didn't get the 5D 24-105 Kit?

no the kit was a little more $ than i have ambition to go out and earn right now, maybe for mousefest i'll do some extra employment hours but not during the late summer/early fall, that's my favorite time of year and i have a pretty busy september schedule of car racing
plus i'm not decided between that lens or the 24-70 f2.8 right now, i have a family member wedding in mid october and i'm not sure which i want to rent for the occasion, leaning towards the 24-70, then maybe rent 24-105 for mousefest, compare and then decide which to buy

I actually had the same choice to make; B&H's discount codes made the lenses cheaper - so the 24-70 was less than the regular price of the 24-105 (which was also cheaper); in the end I decided for the 24-105 due to the weight. Plus it goes well with the 17-40.

If I needed a faster lens, I'd just use a prime.

With that being said, we'll see if Canon releases any new lenses (if they do, I'm betting on an EF-S 50-150/2.8 IS or 18-200 IS) next week. Oh and 1 or 2 new dSLRs as well.
