PIXELMANIA October 20th-24th 2021

Discussion in 'PIXELMANIA!' started by Joanie Eddis-Koch, Mar 3, 2021.

  1. The Pixelmania Planning Board is pleased to announce the park of the day for this year's October 2021 Pixelmania.
Keep in mind that these plans may have to change contingent on any conniptions on Disney's part.

As of the date of this post, Disney is still requiring that you have park reservations so make plans accordingly.

Wednesday Oct. 20th we will be having our pre meet dinner at a location to be announced in the future. This meal will be around 5pm, give or take a couple of ticks on the clock. When the planning board has the dining reservations made we will make the announcements and post a sign up list. After dinner we plan on going places on Disney property so stay tuned for that announcement.

Thursday Oct. 21st Our park of the day will be Epcot

    Friday Oct. 22nd
Our park of the day will be Magic Kingdom. As of the date of this post Disney has not announced if there will be a Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party but we are hopeful that they will. If they do, we are guessing that this will be one of the dates that they will have it so be on the lookout for ticket sales.

Saturday October 23rd This will most likely be our Hollywood Studios day.

Sunday October 24th will most likely be our Animal Kingdom day. This may be a day where we park hop over to Epcot, either for a meal around dinner time or for a second shot at Harmonious, which we are hoping will be showing in October. The dining situation for this day will have to worked out by the Planning Board. Dining announcements will be announced after reservations have been secured.

Please continue to check back with this thread on a regular basis to check for any updates. We hope to see you at Pixelmania this year!

  2. Edited 7/23/21: Disney has replenished park passes for October. No one knows how long they will last so book ASAP if you already have not.

Please be sure to book your park passes ASAP.

There are reports that they are becoming exceedingly difficult to get.

Disney may open up the number of park passes available for our October trip dates OR NOT, no one knows.

To help you understand how much fun booking park passes is I've ̶ ̶b̶o̶r̶r̶o̶w̶e̶d̶ stolen this paragraph from EasyWDW:

"You can always pull up the calendar here. And I’ll follow up that sage advice with some more: the calendar isn’t actually accurate, at least in terms of being updated in real time. If you’re trying to book a particular date, you want to refresh the actual page that will allow you to book a specific Park on a specific day, which is available here. My estimation is that there needs to be a minimum number of spots available at a Park before it shows availability on the calendar. If a certain day went green because somebody canceled and two spots opened up, the likelihood that you’d be able to book it before someone refreshing the actual booking page is nearly nonexistent. So to reduce those crestfallen feelings, Disney keeps things greyed out unless they’re pretty sure your nimble fingers can make it over in time to book Epcot on a Tuesday four months from now.

  3. From a post found on WDWmagic.com:

"Some entertainment appears to be returning to Epcot!! Alberta Bound is returning to the Mill Stage in the Canada Pavilion on October 1st, 2021. The band features Jason Thomas and Billy Varnes both who worked with Off Kilter and CC Dixon who worked with Mulch, Sweat & Shears along with some other terrific musicians. Nice to see some of the great entertainment returning to Disney!!!"

For those planning to fly Southwest to Orlando, we can make our reservations starting April 22, 2021.

  5. Just a heads up. You can make your park reservations for October now.

If you are staying offsite but you have an Annual Pass, you can make 3 days worth of Park reservations. I'm not sure what the deal is with people staying on property but I believe that you can make park pass reservations for your length of stay.

I will spare you my whining about how stupid this system is.

I will encourage you to MAKE YOUR PARK PASS RESERVATIONS NOW, because who knows how crazy it will get for October and crowd levels.

Make sure you get the dates right.

I've had to make reservations for Thursday (Epcot), Friday (MK), and Saturday (DHS) to make sure I can get into the parks for Pixelmania but I'll need to figure out a way to get into the parks before then because I am limited to 3 reservations at a time.

Also, as of today's date you need to have a park reservation and Scan into that park before you can hop to another available park after (I think it's) 2pm

    Fun, fun, fun.

Could you purchase a ticket voucher for the number of days you need with the start date being when you arrive... then transfer that cost towards the renewal of an annual pass? Or would that drop your reservations the moment it switched? Probably not... just spitballin’ crazy ideas.

  8. I'm not an expert but I think you can. I'd send an email to guest services and see what they say. I'd also bet that they will start selling AP's any day now that Florida has declared that anyone of any age or condition can get vaccinated starting April 4th. I think a huge concern was CM's not able to get vaccinated. Now this barrier will be removed and I think by May, AP's will return for sale again.

Shows are rumored to be starting up again in July now that social distancing can be tightened among the "Vaccinated" guests.

I don’t think the 2pm Park Hopping is set in stone. Last week we were at AK, then went to DS for lunch, and Epcot at 1pm, then back to AK at 6pm.

I missed the location, where is the Pre Pixelmania Dinner going to be at?

@Nancy AK We normally announce the meal locations a month or two before Pixelmania. We have locations in mind, but we can't make reservations until mid-July, so nothing can be finalized yet.

Although now that I think of it, didn't Joanie say something about Sanaa on the Zoom chat?

Yes, that is the current tentative plan... with a post-pre-meet trip to Destino at Coronado.

  15. Watch out. I've heard there's a lot of Riff Raff that stays at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Also, Disney is hinting that MNSS Halloween party is back on. To what extent we shall find out shortly. I also expect the mask mandate to be lifted, possibly before Summer.

I heard rumor that tickets for MNSSHP won’t be released till June or July. Lifting the mask mandate would be great. Universal quit doing temperature checks this week. We’re heading there next week.

Disney has stopped the temperature checks too, effective May 16. Mask is still enforced, and social distancing is probably next...still 6 feet but likely going to change to 3 feet soon.

I do hope the masks follow soon - I've never been away from Disney for this long since the World opened in 1971...longest was 11 months. For the pre-pandemic prior 25 years, I've gone at least 4 times a year. Now it's been 1 year, 2 months, and counting. It's the masks alone that keep me away - I can deal with all the other rules (though I don't like them), but can't do daytime, outdoor masks full time in Florida heat and humidity. Down here, if you're away from people, you can pull your mask down, and only pull it up when you're passing or close to someone, so I can still go for miles-long walks out in the wetlands and trails and most of the time don't have to put the mask up - but at Disney, there's almost always someone close to you. Plus, I'd worry about walking by myself back to my resort from a park and having no one around so I decide to pull down the mask, and run afoul of some Disney employee watching a video camera! Much as I strongly dislike rules, I still follow them.

I am still question-mark for Pixelmania, but may still try to book it, just because I haven't been able to go for so long - if the mask rule drops for outdoors at least, I may try to go for this Pixelmania.

Limited details of the Boo Bash are available on the Disney World web site. It sounds like MNSSHP-lite. Here is their list of bullet points:
    • Halloween-themed cavalcades
    • Candy stops, with plenty of sweet surprises
    • Character sightings throughout the park
    • Special performances by the Cadaver Dans
    • Attractions, including favorites like Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain
    • Themed food and beverages available for purchase
    • Special décor, lighting, music and more!
Tickets go on sale in June.
