Last weekend I decided to use my Tamron 10-24mm F3.5-4.5 almost exclusively for my trip just for a different perspective. ; I had the lens on for all of Epcot and Magic Kingdom, only switching to the 18-250 for AK. ; One thing I hadn't really done much before was taking night shots with the UWA lens.

Last Friday was a full moon, and one of the brightest of the year, so I decided to do some tripod night shots with the UWA lens on the A550 around Epcot Center's World Showcase. ; The UWA perspective was fun at night, the full moon made the sky aglow, and the clouds were thick and fast-moving, which gave some crazy streaks and wild glowing skies. ; I've posted the link to the 1024-pixel long original uploads under each photo to see the larger shots.

Here's the China Pavilion's Temple of Heaven and reflecting pool:

another vote for the china, and i assume from the lack of people, this was the patented tmip, they'll have to chase me out of here to get me to fold up the tripod time of the night

As I said over on DIS, China #1 is my favorite.

Thanks all. ; Glad to hear China #1 get some compliments - that was one of the harder ones to take! (More on that in a sec)

Gary...surprisingly, this was at 8pm - still before close, and on an EMH night. ; The park was reasonably crowded for a slow season, but with a little patience, you could usually get the shots with a minimum of interference...those who do pass through the long exposures tend to ghost out so much you barely notice them.

I did have to retake 3 or 4 of the shots you see, because someone with lots of lighted things walked through the shot, leaving huge light streaks behind. ; The worst was in Germany - I set up my tripod, waited for some people to shuffle past, then had a fabulous lull in the crowd, and hit the shutter...almost as soon as I pressed it, I caught out of the corner of my eye the super-Disney-fan lady in the electric scooter festooned with Christmas lights and blinking Mickey heads and neon necklaces, zooming quickly right for my composition. ; Stuck in the middle of a 10-second exposure, I just had to cringe as she zoomed through the shot, cutting the apex just inches from my tripod as she rounded the corner. ; That left me with this as my first attempt:

I know...kind of cool actually in a fun way, but not what I wanted!

The reason the China shot #1 was the hardest was the angle - the only place to get that particular angle with the reflecting pool was down the right hand path through the garden. ; Also known as the Smoking Area for China. ; And apparently a Smoker's Convention must have had one of the conference centers on property and it was their Epcot night, because it was, no joke, standing room only, blocking the entire path for 10 feet either side of the smoking benches. ; I am patient, so I waited for a clearing...when I finally squeezed my way to the spot, my non-smoker-who-has-been-around-family-smokers-and-once-worked-in-a-bar training kicked in, allowing me to somehow eek out enough oxygen from the pea-soup-fog of smoke to get that shot. ; I was there a good 15 minutes for that shot! ; :)
