Ended up falling while at the beautiful Peggy's cove with my 5DM2 in my hands .. it was let it go and head face first into a rock the side of a fire truck ... So the camera is toast now ... going to hate to see the repair bill on this .. the top LCD screen is broken, I am sure the internals are messed up and maybe even the mirror broken ... I did not take this picture, credit goes to http://peggyscovearea.wordpress.com/
Bummer! When I saw the title of your post I was hoping that you had purchased a big something delicious from a camera store. If you have a trip coming up and you are without a camera you could consider renting a big something delicious for the trip. Other than that I'm out of ideas, besides duct tape and superglue. At least the camera died an honorable death. If it's beyond fixing perhaps a wake involving large amounts of liquor might be appropriate. Hugs... ~Joanie
Going to take it to a local place to get it fixed on monday, if it only takes 4 weeks i should have it back in time for the trip if not .. i might need to check out kingdom shitty thing is i wanted to give that camera to karen and get the M3 for myself but i am going to bet this repair will cost 1000 bucks or more..
Hate to say it, Sean, but you might be pretty close... ; If there is no internal damage you might have dodged a big bullet. ; I snapped a lens mount off with a bad drop once and Canon didn't kill me too bad to fix it. ;
Home owners policy doesn't cover the repair and my visa doesn't cover it. (when the visa was sold to me, they said it would be covered but forgot to mention its only for the first 90 days and not the entire year they hinted). I am not a happy camper right now, guess its off to the casino to pay this repair bill off.
Repair bill will be 349.00 + tax. There is nothing wrong with the lens, he thinks the sun shield took the brunt of the force when it dropped thus saving the lens and the gas in the lens.
Whew! That's a lot better than I was expecting... I'm thinking that you could sell a kidney and still have extra left over for a little sumthin, sumthin from B&H. Are you happy with that estimate or is it like spending money on something glamorous like a new roof for a house? ~Joanie
