Hello, I was excited to find find this board. Been a big Disney Fan my whole life. Been an AP holder at DL since they first came out. Had to wonderful vacations at WDW one in Nov 03 and the second one in May 08, where my husband and I got married at the Wedding Pavilion. Visited Disney Paris 10 years ago. And we just got back from our first of many to come trips to Tokyo Disneyland. The Tokyo trip is what lead me to want to get more into photography. I have a Nikon Cool Pix 7600, just a nice little point and shoot. I knew before the camera didn't take good night photos. So I wasn't shocked when out night photos of Tokyo Seas didn't come out well. Which is upsetting and lead me to want a new camera. We have just bought a Nikon D90 with the new 50mm lens (AF Nikkor 50mm 1.4G). Which I'm learning by reading this board how to take night shots.
The Nikkor 50mm should get you on your way to nice nighttime photography. But a tripod with the kit lens (the one that came with your D90) can get good ones too. I'm a fellow Nikonian, btw, and just upgraded from the D80 to the D300
welcome, scubamickey. thanks for stopping by and looking forward to trading posts with you. this sure is one awesome community, but i might be a bit partial
Welcome to the boards! I hope you'll share some photos from Paris and Tokyo. We do not have a lot of posts from over there.
Welcome! I'm also new to the forums, but have been totally welcomed. I would also love to hear more about Tokyo Disneyland, especially since it looks like I'll be going there in a couple of months and we don't have that much info on it.
Thank you all for the warm welcome. Grumpwurst, I didn't get the lens kit, just bought the body and put the money towards the 50mm and hopefully the 18-200mm lens I am in the market for a tripod. I saw there is a thread on tripods so I am taking it all in. Deniz, I have started a trip report and will post what I have here so far. With the holidays I will finish it up in Jan. But ask me questions I would be happy to help. Spent three days in each park and had a wonderful time. You will love it. Im not sure if we can say other websites names on here, but there is one thats very helpful for tokyo. There isn't must out there, Kevin Lees book helped a lot.
Scubamickey, excellent! as I get closer to planning, I'll def have tons of questions for you. I'll only be there for a weekend, so I am trying to go as prepared as possible. I look forward to reading your trip reports and seeing your contributions around the boards.
Deniz, Ive read weekends are their busiest times. So you will want to use fast pass as much as you can. I would start off with a FP for Winnie the Pooh, yes you will like the ride, its not just for kids. I would then do Big Thunder, I thought it was different then WDW, I could be wrong. I know its different then DL. Space Mt. is like DL. Im not sure about splash, it was cold we didn't go on it. Oh do the Western Train ride, is one to not miss(no FP, but the line moves pretty good). There is no train around the park, due to in Japan, if you have a ride that has "x" amount of track, it considered public traspertaion and they would have to charge guest to go on it. So they made the train a ride and its pretty cool. Great place to get some photos. As for Tokyo Seas, there is a lot of walking if you want to see everything. There are boats that can take you from the front part of the park to the back, which we didn't know about until our last day or so. Im not sure what I would say is a must see for Seas, because its all a must see. With in the two parks there are seven different flavors of popcorn, so have fun trying them. I oddly liked the strawberry one. lol
