Hi, new to this group but have been lurking and participating on other Disney and DVC groups. ; I had been looking for comments and input on resales vs buying from disney when I discovered this site, and that it is intended for Canadians. ; Names are Deb and Len, hence the username, and 2 children, which makes the 4. We've been travelling to disney since the early 80's, but only bought into DVC 4 years ago, a small contract at BW we purchased resale as we wanted to test the waters before committing to the 150 Disney required at the time. ; It was also SS which wasn't as appealing (although we've stayed there now and loved it) ; We've been to Disney probably 4 times in the past 3 years, and just returned from a week at Old Key West for Food and Wine festival. ; While there we toured the DVC models of BLT and AKL, which were very impressive. ; We always loved AKL and it's quiet atmosphere (had many awesome meals at Boma) so we're considering adding through Disney, but they have removed the incentives for AKL and added some for BLT. ; So we're back to considering resales, adding on at BW or purchasing another resort resale, or adding through Disney which could be any resort depending on availability or add points at either BLT or AKL. ; Just found we'd like the use of a few more points to give us some flexibility with visiting more often, or getting larger accomodations to take family members with us. ; As others have indicated, the dollar right now is holding us back. ; We're kind of waiting to see what happens with prices for resales and if better incentives are offered. ; We're in no rush, probably not planning on visiting again until fall 2009, or possibly spring 2009 if we do make a purchase. ;
