Everyone, including myself, has concerns about wearing a mask in warm weather. Just in time for summer, Hanes has announced a couple of styles of moisture-wicking masks. They are available in cotton and polyester/spandex, with the latter in an assortment of colors.

Check them out if you're interested, and if you find some other style that you really like, be sure to share it with the rest of the group.

I was honestly expecting a meme photo of someone wearing a jock strap over their face... but alas that was not the case. I wonder how breathable they are. That’s my mother’s biggest complaint for every mask she’s tried so far.

I ordered a pack of the stretchy masks. I'll let you know how they work. My goal is to find something that doesn't steam up my glasses.

I forwarded that link to Mrs. TMIP. I can't stand having a hot, sweaty mask over my face - and yes I hate having my glasses steam up. Thanks.

I've tried many varieties - including what we call down here 'gaiters' - the thin stretchy 'cooling' neck style ones. Honestly, it's not really all that much better than the el-cheapo ribbed expanding masks of cloth that are pretty common. I can see in regular 'heat' where some things might be an improvement - but your breath is coming out around 100 degrees and full of carbon dioxide - while the humid air here in Florida is running right around the same temperature, plus humidity. Masks get moist to the touch in just a few minutes...not including sweat. Things get messy and harder to breathe when they get wet and more stuff sticks to them. It's pretty untolerable no matter what mask you try down here. I am just waiting for them to at least switch to requiring masks indoors, but waive the 24-hour mask requirement at Disney...because honestly it's just not feasible. They're going to have hundreds of medical calls a day of people passing out.

They're coming thick and fast: UnderArmour just announced the Sportsmask, said to be made for athletes and easy to breathe through. Unfortunately, they're only available for pre-order and won't ship until mid-August.

So basically you won’t get them until after the summer heat is over. Though if made for athletes, they’d be there by football season.

The only issue I’d have is that they are $30 for a single mask... and like all masks, non-returnable. So if it doesn’t fit properly or doesn’t work for someone as well as they thought, you’re out $30.

Other than that, I do like the look of them compared to other masks... and that they come in different sizes (since I have a big head).
