This was the plane that I was most excited about seeing as I had never witnessed one flying. ; This is actually an FG-1D that was produced by Goodyear as Chance Vought could not keep up with product demand. Great shots John. ; I love how you can see the pilot in the second shot. Here is my favorite F4 Corsair photo.
I took this photo on a dive in Hawaii in November 2011. ; The plane is located about a mile southeast of Diamondhead. ; The story we were told was that the pilot was flying back into Hickham in 1942 and ran out of fuel and belly landed the plane. ; It sunk straight to the ocean floor 107 feet down. Best dive ever!
I have only dived twice, both in Bermuda and it was great! Thanks Tim! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Good shots and exposure John! The Corsair is a great bird to see in flight and I love the sound of that massive radial engine. Wonder if Dan was flying the Corsair that day. Did you get a chance to talk with the pilot? American Air power has a choice collection and they never disappoint ; . Jason
Thanks Jason, all those planes have such a great sound! ; I only talked to a pilot that brought over a P-51, and it was dumb luck that I caught him. ; I did not see any pilots hanging with their planes unless they were giving rides. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
