Which is it - ugly-cute or cute-ugly?: Northern mockingbird chick at my house. ; I've had to deal with everyone in or out of my front door being dive bombed my the mother for a few weeks while her eggs were getting ready to hatch - then the chicks hatched - but I didn't want to photograph them in the nest as I didn't want to disturb them (the nest is right alongside my driveway, where the front path heads up to the front door). ; But finally, one of the chicks went walkabout and ended up about 70 feet away in my front walled garden, so I snapped a shot of it. Thankfully, the 2 surviving chicks out of 3 (one likely became lunch for my neighbor's cat) have learned to fly this past week, and my front door is now safe to approach without having your hair yanked out or forehead scratched!
