We rode the White Pass and Yukon Railroad with the old number 73 steam engine pulling the train. ; It was pouring rain and foggy almost the whole way. ; I got one nice shot of the train going over a trestle while coming back down the pass. ; The other two shots were taken after I got off the train. ; The rain had stopped, but it was still overcast and foggy.

Nah, Bill knows that the best shots are from a few cars back. ; The first car is awesome for sound recording, though.

And remember: ; Any steam is good steam!

I love the smell of coal smoke in the morning!

Nice work Bill. ; I hope to make it up there someday. ; After seeing the shots two of my friends got during the rotary[nb]Railfan Trivia: ; White Pass is home to the only operational narrow gauge rotary plow in the US and has been since the Cumbres & Toltec stopped clearing the line with their rotary plows after the accident of 1997[/nb] run last year, I'm going to have to make a serious effort to be there the next time they decide to clear the line the old fashioned way again.

Michael, ; The photos that your friends, Kevin and Matthew, took are better than almost all of the entries submitted in this years White Pass and Yukon Railroad photo contest. I would encourage your friends to enter the contest. ; Prizes are up to $200 of White Pass and Yukon memorabilia.
