As the heavens descended. Taken 15 minutes after sunset where the eye sees a black sky but the camera sees something very different...

Agreed. nice one - I've used that very spot several times. Epcot at night is brilliant.

perfect example of why you should always stay a little longer and take those extra shots
even though your eyes say it's black, it's not, it's that deep purple/blue
you are nailing some good stuff this trip

I hope, sometime in the next 5 years, that I'll be shooting the real building in China this was based on

Thanks, everyone. I try to be very aware when I travel when sunrise and sunset occur. I've had lots of experience shooting the hour after sunset and I knew what to look for. I was very excited to see the blue pop up on the LCD after the first exposure. Took many more and did some closeups as well. Will add to this thread as I get them uploaded.

From what I read, this one is a scalled down version of the original. Better get that wide angle lens! :)

Great job, Scott. The Temple of Heaven is one of my favorite subjects at Epcot. Here's my version of the "classic view" from a few years ago...

Scott...I'll have to look at all my other photos. I got a deep shadow on the side you don't. Probably someone walking or sitting in front of one of the lights I'd guess. Wish they weren't doing a refurb project behind the temple. The other side is where the smokers were and I didn't stay there too long. <cough, cough>

UPDATE: Upon futher review, looks like there's a light out. ???

Here's an old one of mine from 2004, from the 'classic' view area. I was shooting faster shutter, so it's darker - the lens was F2.0 - in hindsight, I would have liked to have used a longer shutter speed!:

Yours looks nicer...unfortunate about the temple being covered. Happened to me in January this year too. The Japanese pagoda I love taking photos of was out of commission too this past January!

The pagoda is still covered, Justin. That might be a long refurb. I remember this one being covered for a long time when they refurbed it. Well, timing is everything. Least you didn't have a missing light. :D

Let's just hope that they aren't covered for Pixelmania!

Exactly! Get those covers off the Pagoda and China! And don't go covering some other building either. You'd think Disney will have enough sense to not go repainting or restoring anything while Pixelmania is there...or we'll have Tim show up in uniform to scare them!

Can't find any info on how long the Pagoda will be covered. My daughter will be doing the College program this fall and I'll have here check on it for us.
