taken from the bridge over to boardwalk, had to use bridge post for tripod, not L glass so not as sharp as i would have liked

I think your tripod was bumped or your camera moved in the wind or something. Nothing to do with "L" glass or not.

 

I agree with Scott, looks like motion blur. The colors and composition look great though.
