So maybe this is the Snipe?

    OK Justin and Howie, I am sure one of you know what this thing is. ; I know it is not a great shot, I did crop some. ; I could only ge this close without getting soaked.

    OK, is a snipe a real bird? I just thought is was a "pretend" bird. ; Or is this one of those things that I am gonna feel stupid about later? ; (of course I could use it in may class room)

    that pic I have on flickr is a snipe. the word sniper comes from that bird. I think it is from brits shooting snipes.
    ok I googled it and yes it comes from brits shooting snipes so yes it is a real bird

    The word Sniper comes from a play on words by British soldiers in India as early as 1773. Here troops hunted the Snipe, a small, quick bird that was difficult to shoot. Successful shooters were dubbed Snipers. However the true Sniper as we know him today was developed by the German Army of WW1.

    you should make a headstone where you get taken out by a sniper Justin
