Sigma USA hasn't updated their site yet, and I'm not linking to another site with the info, but I think there are even more lenses announced. ; They also updated their APS-C compacts the DP-1/2, and the SD14 to the SD15....
Wow, a rectilinear 8-16mm! Also I bet that stabilized 70-200mm has Canon & Nikon taking notice. ; Just hope it's a big optical performance improvement over the previous incarnation.
That 8-16 really caught my attention, too. ; The Tokina may get a run for its money! Really big announcements, in my opinion!
Oh my, a stabilized bigma eh? That doesn't interest me anymore, I think. ; I used to be very interested in it, even without stabilization.. but I admit it, I'm a pixel peeper, and for the money I don't think 400mm gets any sharper than it does on my 400mm F5.6. ; The bigma might be able to outresolve me at 500 if you stopped it way down, probably beyond F8, but at that point you're sacrificing so much light at the time when you need it the most. ; Nah.. even with stabilization I think I'm happy right where I am. As always, if this puts more pressure on Canon to drop prices or improve the lineup I certainly won't complain, but.. ; well, I'll still be very interested to see how the stabilized bigma performs in terms of image quality. ; If it can beat the Canon 100-400 for similar price it'll still be a very interesting lens.
i admit that i haven't followed the links here but has there been any word on price for the 70-200 f/2.8 or the bigma OS? ; i have been curious about the bigma for years but went with the sigma 120-400 OS instead based on the good ratings it got. ;
No prices announced yet....heck the availability is probably still unknown. The SD-15 was announced at Photokina 2008 and was "reintroduced" at PMA 2010. ; It looks like yesterday's announcements were "pre-show" sneak peeks, the show technically starts today....it's in Anaheim this year.
