Was online look at memory cards and saw something that is new to me. ; 64gb SDXC ; Im guessing they aren't going to be making 64gb SDHC. ; Any idea if SDXC will work in a Nikon D90? ; I can't find anywhere where it say it can or it can't be used with the D90. ;
everything I found so far leads me to believe no. can't find a definitive answer though. plus the price of the sdxc cards is in the 300 dollar range
http://www.sdcard.org/developers/tech/sdxc/using_sdxc/ SDXC will not be compatible with SDHC readers; so it would be a hardware upgrade, not just firmware. ; Heck that was the same problem with SD to SDHC...... And no, SDHC maxes out at 32gb.
HW, yeah I know they are pricey. ; More memory = more money lol Thanks Roger. ; My first thoughts are why do they do this? ; Then I know the answer, so we will up grade and they get more money. ; It would have been nice if they did a 64gb in SDHC. ; I can sure fill up ; a 32gb pretty easily with a full day of shooting. ; And its alway my luck when Im shooting something and I run out of memory. ; So I miss a few things as I change out the cards.
I think the main problem with SD is that while it's SmartMedia sized, they didn't have the technology to add more and more storage in such a small space when the original MMCs came out (the SD card with built-in DRM!) CF had the first generation Size II models, which are rare, and now some cameras don't accept the larger Size II model! ; (I had a 128mb one, and the 1GB microdrive with my D30)
