Actually I don't mind what they are planning. Walt Disney never intended for his park to be a museum, but I know there are "foamers" out there that can't stand to see things like this happening.

But I wonder how many have actually seen what is going to be added?

Jim has a pic from the HKDL model. It needs life. POTC has been updated. HM has been updated. Fantasyland from Walt's time in Anaheim has been gone for over 20 years.

While I disagree with the requirement that "in order to open a new attraction one must be closed" (O RLY? What about the Motorboat Cruise at DL? Well, uhh we uhh we uhh the new attraction was worth two old attractions!), you need to breathe life into older attractions to keep them current some times.

I just don't like the idea of removing the rain forest scene. :(

Well considering that the U.S. has one of the smallest representations in the ride....something has to go in order to do that, and apparently DLP has a decent looking USA section.

I disagree with the Blair children that it will inflame tourists from other countries.

I'd like to see this done at one of the parks, but not both. Its good to have something different to drive visitors to both parks, like Haunted Mansion Holiday or the Matterhorn. So long as the feel and style of the ride remains, I think a lot of people will accept the changes and be pleased the total feeling of the ride has not been altered.

Adding a tribute to America to It's a Small World just seems like a backwards idea. The entire point of the ride is the diversity of the world, the stuff that we don't usually see. To take out some of that diversity to highlight what you see all over America every day anyway seems to be missing the point. It makes me think of the joke from Muppetvision 3d. "A Salute to All Nations, But Mostly America".

On the other hand, I have to admit that I'm curious how they'd showcase America in IASW style. For some reason I keep thinking of cowboys.

I keep thinking about how so much of America is a hybridization of other cultures. About the only uniquely American costuming I can think of is Native American clothing.
