Did a search but can't find any info on this. What is "Reputation Power" that listed under our names?

    1 point per post
    3 posts per topic
    plus bonus points

rep power is rep divided by 100.
full reputation is in profile. top 10 rep is on stars page.

I'm still trying to figure out the bonus points...what is it, like 10% of the grantor?

In other forum packages I've moderated, the "bonus" points typically were those that could be awarded by administrators at their discretion. I don't know if that's the case here

it is all set to automatically calculate. I disabled the ability for anyone, including me, to +\- other people's rep. I want the rep to be a measure of participation instead of a popularity contest.

And that, I think is the best way to have it. A good barometer of participation

    I'm not thinking it's working.

would you care to elaborate on that?

    1) Look at Ray's rep.

    2) Look at your own rep in your profile.

    :p

Yep, I'm now back to the reputation I had before the quirk.

I like this because it really weights one's involvement. Two people with the same post count could have two different reputations because one person may start more threads than another.

Interesting how that thing can swing 200+ points in a single day, up or down, based on whatever the secret formula is! But in general, it seems the most posts, threads, and minutes logged in still ultimately pushes the numbers up for the top 5-10 reps...so it seems fair enough.

time logged in is not a factor. you get +1/ post and +3/topic.
if it is swinging that much in one day, there might be another problem or you might be really busy.
if there are any more problems with the calculations, i am going to disable this until the author fixes the bugs.

to see if your rep is correct, use (posts + 2*topics started). you get 3 pts for starting a topic, not 4 (no double dipping). i checked a few people just now and it seems to be correct for everyone.

My total is fine, per the formula. I think it's whatever the 'bonus' formula is that occasionally causes big fluctuations. For example, yesterday I was in the mid 1300s, and then suddenly after about 7 posts was up at 1550 or so, and had moved from 5th to 4th overall in rep...then 6 hours later I made a few more posts that night, and was back to the 1300s again and 5th overall. Per the calculation, I should be in the 1,300s...the mystery was the temporary jump to mid 1500s!

I don't think you need to disable it yet - it seems to be running pretty normal otehr than that - the key would be to find out what triggers those bonus points to be added or taken away.

Posting only on the even numbered minutes of odd numbered hours. I'm convinced of it. ;)

I noticed that after I left you rep.

Justin, there was a period last night when the calculation when bonkers when Tim and I were trying to remove the Reputation Power calculation (Reputation/10). Everybody's number went awry. We simply ran the recalculation function which also could've caused some oddities on the screen while it was recalibrating.
