I want to get a circular polarizing filter. ; My question is this: ; Can I get a 77mm one, then just use the step down/up rings like I do with my ND filter? ; Or should I plan to buy for each lens? ; Thanks so much!
I ; have been using a stepup ring for awhile now and no problems. ; Much cheaper than buying filters for each size end
Oh yeah... ; didn't think of that. ; Haven't had coffee yet and PolyMedic had me out late last night.
Another stupid question from John, I have heard of vignetting, I know it has something to do with the edges of images, but that's it. ; Anyone care to explain for me? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Vignetting is the darkening of the frame of an image due to poor lens design, incompatibility, too many filters, etc. ; For example, when I used someone's 8-16 Sigma at Pixelmania, that lens was designed for a 1.6x crop. ; My 1d4 is 1.3x crop so from 8-10.5mm, I could see the lens hood at the edge of my pics, which resulted in a dark circle in the captured image. When done artistically, it can be a great creative effect but it should generally be avoided.
