On the last day of Pixelmania! 2009, a surprise contest was announced courtesy of "Backlot" Bob Frazier (operations coordinator, Disney-Hollywood Studios Backlands area). ; Mr. Frazier provided each team with an envelope consisting of five "where am I" type photos (and a few treats as well) and each team was tasked with not only finding each of the five locations but coming up with a "creative" or "artistic" interpretation of that particular scene. ; The judges were Disney Photographers and cast members and there were three teams that all did a fantastic job. ; All of the teams were able to find all of the locations with relative ease, however one location was VERY difficult. ; I must also applaud the creativity in the team names themselves: ; Backlands Scavengers, Keep Moving Forward, and in particular Kermit's Autopsy[nb]Gary actually wore a t-shirt that depicted Bunsen and Beaker giving Kermit an autopsy. ; Really[/nb] The overall winning team will be given a personalized drawing of their favorite Disney character, as interpreted by a Disney artist. Here are the five photos, the official results, and with the explanation from the judges:[nb] Tim Devine and The Magic in Pixels did not participate in the judging and did not have a vote[/nb] PHOTO #1 - BRICKS
Woo Hoo! ; Hello, Snow White! Seriously, it was great reading the critiques. ; And in response, here is what they described as a potential "clear winner":
Well congrats guys! ; We tried to give you a run for the money there, but looks like we got edged out by a nose. ; They were probably Kermit fans, and we offended them...yeah, that's it! ; ; Awesome prize too. ; Next time Kermit will rise from the autopsy pan and have his revenge!
Congrats everyone. ; Too bad it wasn't a point based system cuz then We (Backland Scavengers) would have won 2 to 1-1/2 to 1-1/2. ; Oh well, We'll get 'em next year (or I guess this year). ; Anyway, would love to see the final artwork prizes posted on here when they are done. ; Again, congrats.
so is next year's team is going to be called "Kermitenstein", "Kermacula" or "Kermbie"? (trying to think of all the undead monsters)
Gary, saw the shirt online and if it is the same one, I think you are getting closer and closer to getting kicked out of the parks (or at least having to turn your shirt inside out like they do in grade schools). ; Although it was a different angle than I was expecting. ; Classic shirt though.
