Panasonic planning 3D m4/3 lens

    I see no reason it should require a firmware update. ; I'm assuming this works like other similar 3d lenses I've seen in the past, and it simply splits the frame into two and records two images in one picture. ; Without any sort of firmware change such a lens should just give you weird looking split image pictures. ; Depending upon which side gets which image you might even be able to free view them using the crosseye method without having to use any special software at all.

    Actually I take that back. ; I do see a reason. ; Autofocus and metering concerns. ; I haven't followed the m4/3 system so I don't really know how it handles AF, but it seems like it would have to be a live view based system, since there's no mirror at all, right? ; So I'd think that that should make it easier, but still you might end up with your main AF point either split between two images, and covering the extreme edges of each, or else maybe in a dead space between.
