Male wood duck protecting the nest (from a nearby zoo worker wading around the pond) taken in the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse, NY. I used my SB-600 flash at +3 and was rewarded with being able to see the female in the nesting box. Nikon D70/80-400 VR (@ 400mm), 1/200s, f/7.1, ISO 200, +0.7 EV
excellent capture, if i might suggest a minor processing, i'd clone out the 2 straps,or at least the one over the male's head, they are a little too bright for my taste and take away somewhat from the brilliant color of the wooduck, the prettiest duck of them all i feel, although donald might disagree
I like that shot a lot. If great capture wasn't already taken I would have used that or a variation of that.
Good point, Gary, I'm fairly new at this cloning stuff and, with a rainy weekend forecast, I'll have some time to work on some photos. Here's a couple more of the male.
