Our furnace packed it in in April. Direct energy change their insurance policy and will only cover upto $1000 per year. We a;ready had them out in Decmeber for a new circuit board, we now need a new gas valve and ventor motor. A neighbour who installs heating & air had a look and said it would take about $1200 to fix it. He let us know that the AC would still function because the blower fan in the furnace still worked. Our furnace and AC are both 20 years old We had a whole bunch quotes. Every one wanted us to change both. Quotes ranged from $6000(builder grade) to 13,000 for both units. If you go for some of the high end units you may qualify for an eco rebate of upto $1200. But you will need to spend an additional $400 for an energy audit on your house. They come an look where you can save energy from insulation to new windows etc. For example if you ; put new window in or insulation you basement they'll throw some more money you way once the work is done in addition to any rebate you qualify for with your new ac unit. I called my neighbour back he took a close look at my ac and told me it was fine and it could run for 1 more year or 10. He'll be installing our new unit at some point before the winter. He'll be installing a great unit with new thermostat, humidifier and air cleaner for $3200. 5 years labour/10 years parts. Not a bad deal.
Wow its a beauty of a day here! ; Hot hot hot, what a great day we picked to open our pool! Its all open and ready for swimmers (I sure that will be tomorow). ; We were lucky our AC fired up right away (we cross our finger each year we turn it on)..
DD 13, 14 tomorrow, and one of her friends jumped in our above ground pool that I opened on Thursday. They said it was refreshing but cold.

If you plan on coming today June 8, 2008 it is DD's 14th birthday and whole bunch of her friends will be coming over to frolic in the pool. Joking aside, would any folks be up for a Disney Magic Meet at some point in the summer? I don't mind hosting it. I'm in the QEW/427 area of Mississauga. We could have a BBQ and exchange war stories. If enough interest is generated we can pick a date for sometime in July.
Well i can say that im not enjoying this heat at all iv got a nasty Cold bug and i feel miserable in this heat

Looks like ours! I look like a prune, been in ours this afternoon till the rain came. Meet and greet sounds good.
Got back from camping yesterday. It was hot but there was a nice breeze off the lake that make it comfortable and it was great for sleeping at night it cooled down enough to make it tolerable, mosquitoes were bad though hope they die off before our next trip. Except for the Magic Meets weekend I would be totaly up for a DM meet and greet that would be cool.
Ok I'm going to throw out a couple of dates for a meet up. July 20 or 21. Does that conflict with anybodies plans? Should we start a meet thread? I don't want to be accused of hijacking this thread, even though that's what has happened.
Ok we'll kill that week-end of the 19/20 of July since Northern MOuse will be at a Disney related event. Here's the dates for a potential meet/bbq. Jul 12 or 13 Jul 26 or 27 I don't mind holding it a my place in Mississauga. QEW/427 area. I think the 26 or 27 would be better so Northern Mouse could give the info on the Magic Meet from the previous week. I'm going to start a new thread.
we actually ended up replacing both A/C and furnace....hubby is a contractor, and his dad has a lot of connections so we got a pretty good deal on both....and they were installed on Monday...
