New York City from the air (at night)

This is actually Disney-related, because I took it on my way home from WDW last month. We flew over NYC on our way to Manchester, NH. I took about 10 shots like this, but this one is the only one that came out any good. The IS on my 24-105L worked great for the 0.4 second exposure at ISO3200 (Canon 5D). You can see Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, as well as parts of New Jersey. Not too bad, considering it was shot through plastic Boeing 737 glass!

not bad, the blow out of light in the center/lower of manhattan actually did that because it's 42nd street/times square/ down to about 32nd street midtown, lots of brightly lit buildings there, the dark square above/north of that is central park
you can see the williamsburg and manhattan bridges nicely lit up lower edge towards the tip of manhattan,
you were not quite east enough yet for kennedy airport, i'm always surprised that they route planes to boston and manchester south of new york, instead of well north, you would think it would interfere with the flight patterns for kennedy
 
Nicely done Scott. I like these shots because they make you interpret what you are looking at.

Gary, spot on with the analysis. As far as the routing goes, I think they do this because the JFK routes are still East of where this plane is, because of it's location on LI. The flight patterns in and around Northern NJ and NY are unbelievably complex, and interesting to look at. A lot of it actually depends on altitude.
