I'm looking for my first tripod for my slr. DFi would love for it to be at least like 6 feet tall or something, but I just want something to hold the camera steady for fireworks and night shots. I'd also like to not spend a whole lot on it.

    thanks

there is a whole thread on here, just search under tripod, official, of tmip

we have taken to referring to it as the official tripod of the magic in pixels, as many of us have this one or it's predecessor

63" extended, to hit 6 foot your going to end up with a pretty hefty folded length, not to mention a much larger footprint in a crowd /main street fireworks situation, if you add on the manfrotto pistol grip most of us use, your'e pretty close to the 6 feet

i have recently changed back to an acratech ballhead, but not out of dissatisfaction, i sold the tripod and grip to my nephew, so he could just have it shipped to his new posting, as it was in hawaii, at hickam air base on loan to him

I ended up getting a Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 with a Manfrotto 486RC2 ball head. ; I remembered to use the B & H banner and can't wait they get here! ; It's not as small as the Luxi, but at 3.8 pounds it shouldn't be too hard to lug it around the park.
