Well, at least their mode of transportation was spotted ; ;)

This was my first time seeing these props from the lake side & I like the opportunity it presented for a photo.

That is a neat angle. That's one of my favorite spots in Epcot. I usually get a beer at the counter and sit at the tables. And during the food fair, I always get a Durban Spiced Chicken from the South Africa Kiosk.

I'd like to know how many people walk by the other side of that wall & totally miss this spot? Never tried the spiced chicken Craig. I might have to give this a try sometime.

I noticed it for the first time in 2006 - having actually looked over the wall from the sitting area and seeing the boats, but not realizing they were visible from the other side of the lake:

Looks like I was shooting more from the Morocco side, and you were shooting from the China/Norway side. ; You got nice colors in yours, BTW!

I agree Craig...one of many lovely chillout spots in Epcot. ; If my China garden benches are too full, I'll walk over the bridge and grab a chair under an umbrella there and have a drink.

Great job Justin. Were you on the Friendship boats? I actually took mine from the Friendship boat using my 17 - 85, f/4-5.6 & a little Lab Color to boost the colors.

I think I was around Morocco or France actually, just looking over the wall. ; The more I look at the angle, the more I think I was using a lot of zoom and took the pic from France's waterside pavilion area.

I like those shots, need to keep that angle (and the chicken & beer) in mind!

Thanks Poly & Paul. I think that little corner of World Showcase is all too often forgotten.

I would agree. ; There isn't much there, and I think that people just walk on by.

Now you know to stop & check it out. It's a really cool spot to hang out when you need a break.

I really wish they would build an African or South American country's pavilion there. Like maybe Brazil, dealing with the Amazon natives. That would fit with the theme that is already there.

Africa is probably out of contention - first off, they've already got Morocco...and second, Animal Kingdom provides a full east African style village in Harambe.

South America could be interesting - but it's somewhat hard to come up with an iconic landmark or theme to the building construction, stores, etc...Brazil has lots of Colonial history, but there's not really a 'Brazilian' architectural style per se, at least not that anyone would recognize. ; And hard to build a mockup of Iguazu Falls or Sugarloaf! ; Peru's got Macchu Picchu, but those are ruins. ; Cuzco is an ancient Incan city, but not many visitors to Epcot would recognize anything there.

I've always thought they need to pick places that even folks who have never traveled and are not necessarily the brightest or worldliest would still recognize the architecture/theme style immediately without having to see a sign. ; I think most if not all countries there now pull that off pretty well (Norway is the only one some average folks might not recognize the style of). ; Personally, I always thought a Russia pavilion would be cool - everyone knows the spiral church designs and Red Square...and Vodka and caviar tastings, borscht soup & potatoes would be easy to serve! ; And everyone could buy the nesting dolls, but with the Disney characters on them! ; :)

Like the shots! ; Never noticed the canoes! ; There was a rumor a while back about an Australian pavilion (Jim Hill) but as with most rumors, it never came true.

In a few years, once all the attention lavished on Disneyland has subsided, I expect WDW to begin ramping up for the 50th Anniversary, and that will mean some major improvements, assuming of course, that Night Kingdom isn't the main event for that time.

Since WDW refused to pay for The Little Mermaid dark ride, and the new Star Tours redo, it may be some time before another new ride comes to the park. ; Unless it's provided by an outside vendor (balloon).

I think WDW might start feeling some pressure to ramp up a new ride/attraction if the Harry Potter Land @ Universal becomes a big hit.

Well the Australia thing was supposed to be at DAK. ; Either that or the finally-going-to-happen Beastlie Kingdom that they said would be part of the Kingdom...(and still lives on on benches and as a part of a stone dragon on the river).

Look at Google Maps. ; The area behind Conservation Station/Jungle Trek is completely cleared out for some reason. ; And it isn't for animal buildings. ; (You can see the Jungle Trek buildings on the edge of the clearing.

Is there a park bench I need to research on my next trip Roger? ; Missed that!

    Never thought about a Russian pavilion Justin, but I think you might be on to something. ; Australia and Spain are two I have always heard about, but Russia would be very cool as well. ; How about all three? ;
