Yes I have decided to stay with Canon and here is my first purchase along those lines. ; Can't wait to go shooting. [attachment deleted by admin]
well there ya go, workout iron and fast lens , all in one package you carry that around all day at pixelmania and you'll know it
Nice! I think for now Ill stick with my 55-250...but I would love the extra speed. Someday *sigh*. But I really am more of a fan of the black body/black lens. LOL. ; While watching the basketball games the other day, I said to my sister "wow thats an expensive lens". She said "how do you know" I said "because its white"
Mmmm.. I'd love to have that lens, but it's just not going to happen. ; There are too many other places I'd put my money first. ; My 70-200 F4 (no IS) works too well for me, it really doesn't leave me wanting.
gary, I need to lose a few pounds, that should offset any additional weight from the lens! I hope to get out this weekend, hopefully we'll have a nice Easter Sunday and lots of photo opportunities.
Whew! ; That's a nice big chunk of glass to carry around - should give you some fantastic results. ; I'd love to have F2.8 at 200mm...but I wouldn't want to carry that all the time. If you do, you're gonna have arms like Ray!
Many people use this lens for portraits both in a studio and outside so don't let the size of the lens dictate it's uses. ; BTW, you will get used to carrying it but it will wear you down. ; I have a large camera bag when I'm at the zoo or AK which I put it in with camera attached when walking between exhibits to give my arms a break.
I must admit, when I rented the lens I used in for shooting a musical which i will be doing more of. ; Also inside sports as well. ; I did some walking around a bit with it and it wasn't too bad. Portraits is something I do want to do more of so combined with all of the above, as well as my Disney interests, I'm sure I will be very happy with the lens.
Paul - I must tell you that I am now GREEN with ENVY. j/k. That is the exact lens that I am saving for to use on my 40D. I am sure you will Love it. Hopefully it won't be too much longer before I can post a pic of my purchase.
Congrats! It is my third favorite lens in my kit and almost always get great results with it ... The weight really does balance well and the IS is great to have for indoor shots. Looking forward to see the results! Jason
#1 85 f/1.2 and for a close 2nd my trusty 24-105 f/4. Paul -- have you been able to wait for the weekend to take some pics?
I guess I can see where you are coming from on the 24-105. I actually have a 17-85 f4-5.6 for my Canon which I find very versatile. Much better than the 24-135 they offer.
The 24-105 just stays on my camera longer than the 70-200 and either one takes incredible pics. The 85 f/1.2 though is in another league of its own. ;
Yes, unfortunately I have not had the time to play around with the new lens, but tomorrow is the day. ; I should make use of it on Easter Sunday as well. ; Cooleo I have the same 17-85 lens you have and it works quite well. ; My armament now is as follows: 50mm f1.8 17-85mm 4-5.6 IS 70-200mm F2.8 IS I can see myself replacing the 17-85mm someday with something ; Zeagle has like 24-105mm f4
paul, there's where you need to decide if full frame is in your future or maybe keeping an ef-s mount, i have the 17-55 2.8 IS for my xti and i'll tell you, for a non L that's one fine piece of glass, over in my phanfare med cruise galleries, most of the inside shots were taken with that lens if you do decide to stay ef-s mount that's the lens i would heartily reccommend without any hesitation
I'll second the 17-55, and the 85/1.2. ; The latter being the only thing I miss about my current mount.
